ABOUT ALLEN R. SMITH

 

Allen R. Smith is a freelance writer living in Vail, Colorado.  With over 20 years of writing experience, Smith specializes in commerical writing for individuals, small businesses and large companies.

Smith graduated from San Diego State University in 1983 with a Master's degree in Exercise Physiology.  For the following 10 years, he wrote for a variety of healthcare programs that included the Human Performance Lab at The Medical Fitness Center in Los Angeles, California, the Cardiac Rehabilitation Department at Santa Monica Hospital in Santa Monica, California, the Weigh To Live Medical Weight Loss Program in Los Angeles, California and UCLA Student Health Services.

Smith has produced dozens of articles for magazines, newspapers and websites and published his first book, "Ski Instructors Confidential: The Stories Ski Instructors Swap Back at the Lodge" through Peanut Butter Publishing in February, 2005. He is also a technical editor for The Professional Skier, the official journal of the The Professional Ski Instructors Association and enjoys writing about the whimsical side of life for AssociatedContent.com. In 2006, he won two writing awards on Humorpress.com.

In addition to his writing endeavors, Smith is a certified alpine ski instructor with the Rocky Mountain division of the Professional Ski Instructors Association and teaches part-time at Vail Mountain in Colorado. He holds a Colorado State teaching certificate and has taught at Colorado Mountain College in Eagle County, Colorado.
